Tukpen Bird Walk





Tukpen Bird Walk 1.1

Tukpen Bird Walk conducted "Wild Bird Day" on 14th October 2023. The route taken in the event from DFO office Rupa to Thungri Village. 

A number of species of birds were sighted, such as
White capped redstart,
Plumbeous redstart,
Gray wagtail,
Black bulbul,
Red-vented Bulbul,
Long-tail shrike,
Scarlet minivet,
Verditer flycatcher,
Gray-hooded warbler,
Common iora and
Common kestrel.





The event was attended by Tabom Soki DFO, Yachang Kani RFO, Tsering Thongdok, Tenzing Chejang Thongon, Dorjee Dema Lama RFO, Bona Lama, Dr Nilutpul Borah, Sagar Tasing, and Dorjee Tsering Wangja.

Tukpen Bird Walk 1.0

Important information:
1. Gathering venue: Chillipam Monastery. 
2. Gathering time:  5 am on 16/09/23
3. Participants are requested to be punctual.
4. Participants are requested to wear trekking shoes and carry their own umbrellas.
5. Participants are requested to carry their own drinking water, please avoid plastic bottles.
6. There shall be minimal use of plastic items.
7. Cameras and binoculars are encouraged but not compulsory.
8. Dorjee Tsering Khrimey, Secretary, Tukpen Village Council, is sponsoring banners, juice, and water. 
9. The Eaglenest Bird Festival Committee is providing breakfast. 
10. The following Bird Experts are requested as guides for the program: 
a)Tenzing Chejang Thongon.
b) Bona Lama
c) Two more guides to be arranged by Yachang Kani, RFO.
11) All participants are requested to arrange their own vehicle.

Formation of Tukpen Bird Walk

The Tukpen Bird Walk is a dedicated initiative formed with a profound mission: to raise awareness about the vital importance of protecting both birds and their natural habitats within the jurisdiction of the Tukpen Village Council. It was formed on September 14, 2023, in a meeting attended by Yachang Kani, RFO,  Dorjee Tsering Khrimey, Secretary, Tukpen Village Council, Tsering Thongdok, and Kesang Lhamu Khrimey This bird-watching endeavor not only introduces local residents and visitors to the rich avian diversity found in the area but also underscores the urgent need for conservation efforts. Through guided walks and educational programs, the Tukpen Bird Walk serves as a beacon of environmental consciousness, fostering a deeper appreciation for these winged wonders while inspiring collective action to preserve the delicate ecosystems that sustain them.


Tukpen Bird Walk 1.0

Eaglenest WLS, Tukpen Village Council, and Eaglenest Bird Festival collaborated to organize Tukpen Bird Walk 1.0 on September 16, 2023, in the Fè-rong Ghótó area. The event was attended by 20 bird enthusiasts who could sight 25 species of bird
