The SBVCR, nestled amidst the natural beauty of its surroundings, has emerged as a bastion for the conservation of endangered species and a unique bird-conservation ecotourism model. Its significance extends beyond ecological protection to nurturing a harmonious relationship between the Bugun community and their habitat.
The SBVCR, forms the heart of the Kameng Protected Area Complex, an expansive region encompassing two states and five protected areas, spanning a total of 3,500 km2. This area is renowned for its breathtaking avian diversity, with Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary and its environs serving as a haven for over 700 bird species. The Bugun Liocichla (Liocichla bugunorum), a species of extraordinary beauty and importance, was first discovered here, symbolizing the dedication of the Bugun communities towards conservation. It stands as a beacon of the Bugun community's conservation dedication and graces the SBVCR's official logo alongside the iconic Red Panda.
The 12 member patrolling team forms the backbone of SBVCR's effectiveness. Trained rigorously in various aspects of patrolling, rescue, and conservation, this team of committed individuals plays a pivotal role in protecting the region's diverse flora and fauna, often operating under challenging conditions.
